Frequently asked questions

What's your return policy?

If you are in any way unhappy with your sling, please don't hesitate to contact us via the "contact" form or by emailing us at hello@lilyandmama.com. We strive to make every one of our customers happy. However, we are unable to accept returns due to the handmade nature of our slings as well as safety concerns. Please keep in mind that babies and mamas may take a few weeks to warm up to babywearing, so keep trying! And if you feel that babywearing isn't for you, we'd love if you'd consider re-gifting to your favorite new mama or your local pregnancy center.

How do I wear my Lily and Mama sling?

Each sling comes with an instructional pamphlet with a step-by-step guide for wearing your sling, as well as an online version at

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1AFc-80OlX0wlsKFW98zNBgMYqj7hK-OaRfJ1tPjCOiU/edit?usp=sharing

This is a printable document - feel free to print for yourself and share with your mama friends!

When can I wear my baby in my Lily and Mama sling? What are its weight limits?

If your baby was born full-term and without any respiratory issues, you should be able to wear them in the sling right away (keeping in mind that our weight recommendation is from 8 to 30 pounds). Our slings are recommended from birth through three years old.

Care instructions

Our slings should be hand washed and line-dried.

Are your slings safe?

We take babywearing safety seriously. Sewn with an ASTM F2907 compliant warning label, CPSC product tracking label, and packaged with a required product registration card. I am a member of the Baby Carrier Industry Alliance (BCIA) and am constantly striving to promote safe babywearing. Our rings have been designed and tested for safe use in ring slings. They are free of heavy metals and toxins and have been strength-tested to hold 250 pounds. When dyeing the fabric, I use dyes that bind with the fibers of the fabric (rather than dyes that "sit" on top of the fabric such as RIT) in order to create a permanent, safe, and beautiful product.

Custom and personalized orders

Our signature hand-dyed sling is unlike any in the market. I use two layers of thin, breathable linen to create a soft, sturdy, and durable sling meant for newborns through three-year-olds (with a weight range of 8-30 pounds). Rather than using one thick layer of stiff and often hard to "break in" linen, the use of two thinner layers allows for a sling that is soft and "floppy" right out of the box. They are sewn with a gathered (not pleated) shoulder which allows for the fabric to be easily spread across mama's back and shoulders, and the weight of baby to be evenly distributed. Our slings are dyed and sewn in small batches, and your business directly supports our family.

Sizing details

On average, each sling measures about 75 inches long, allowing it to fit most wearers. However, a few slings will occasionally be listed as "Petite Length", meaning they measure between 65-68 inches long and are recommended for wearers XS-M or size 0-6.
If you feel you will need a special length (shorter or longer), please don't hesitate to contact me!
